The back design expands that story with a fresh, battle-ready interpretation. At the center stands the Gimlet Stick, a symbol earned by soldiers who complete the demanding Gimlet Challenge, representing endurance and grit. Coiled around it is a golden rattlesnake with four red arrows, referencing the regiment’s historic participation in eight Indian War campaigns and honoring the fierce warrior heritage of the 21st.
All of this is framed by a broken ring. The break isn’t accidental—it signals that the legacy is always open for those who step into it. “Once a Gimlet, Always a Gimlet” isn’t sealed in tradition; it’s carried forward by every new soldier who joins the line.
